Practice Policies
Appointments
  • A standard meeting time for psychotherapy is 50 minutes.
  • A client determines the length of time for sessions. However, changes to the 50-minute session need to be discussed prior.
  • If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.
  • Face-to-face sessions are highly preferable to telehealth or phone sessions. However, in the event of a pandemic, client is out of town, sick, or needs additional support, telehealth and phone sessions are available.
Cancelations
  • Cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance.
  • Cancelations less than 24 hours ahead will incur a $50 fee.
  • A no show will incur a $75 fee.
  • A $10 service charge will be incurred for any returned checks or for any special handling.
  • Fees will be charged to the credit card on file.
  • These fees are necessary because a time commitment is held exclusively for you.
Telephone Accessibility
  • If you contact your therapist during sessions, please leave a voicemail. Your call will be returned within 24 hours if possible.
  • If an immediate emergency situation arises, please call 911 or the crisis line at 801-587-3000.
Social Media and Telecommunication
  • Wiconi Counseling Center therapists and employees do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on social networking sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Your confidentiality and privacy are paramount. Social media requests may compromise your confidentiality, boundaries, or your therapeutic relationship with your therapist.
Electronic Communication
  • Confidentiality cannot be ensured on any form of electronic media, including text messages.
  • Communication via email or text messaging for issues regarding scheduling and cancelations is acceptable. Those messages will be returned in a timely manner.
  • Your therapist
    will not
discuss therapeutic content via email or text messaging.
Minors
  • The parents and/or legal guardian of a minor are legally entitled to some information about their therapy. Your therapist will discuss with you and your parents and/or legal guardian what information is appropriate for them to receive and which issues are kept confidential.
Termination
  • It is important to have a termination process in order to achieve some closure. This process is out of respect for the therapeutic process, clients, and practitioners.
  • The appropriate length of termination depends on the length and intensity of treatment.
  • Your therapist may terminate treatment after an appropriate discussion with you. The reasons and purpose of terminating will be discussed.
  • Your therapist may terminate the therapeutic relationship if they determine that psychotherapy is not being effectively used or if a client defaults on payment.
  • If therapy is terminated for any reason or a client requests another therapist, you will be provided with a list of qualified psychotherapists. Client may also choose a psychotherapist from their own or from another referral source.
  • Should a client fail to schedule an appointment for two consecutive months, unless other arrangements have been made in advance, for legal and ethical reasons, the therapist must consider the professional relationship discontinued.
